I've found my feet!

Quinn really likes to hang onto her toes - especially on the changing table!

She was so enthralled with these cute slippers

She wouldn't let go of her feet

She's quite intent on her little toys (while dad chops vigorously in the background)

She loves her hands too

play time - she dropped all her toys

She loves chatting with dad

The next Gerber baby?

Quinn has found her hands, feet, and pretty much everything else in front of her that she can put in her mouth. She not only looks at Meow Meow Kitty now, she tries to reach for him. She grabbed his fur the other day and he was a very good kitty and just sat there. I'm sure there are many more grabbing incidents to come! She recently found her feet and she just can't get enough of them. She really likes to just hang on to her toes with her fingers all the time - it's pretty cute. We have also been practicing sitting up, we'll have to take a photo of that game sometime soon. Oh, the small feats!

Well, we can't wait to go to the Midwest and see everyone! Quinn is going to be a very busy girl - she's going to have to remember a lot of names and faces - haha! But actually to help her out, we thought it would be a good idea to take every one's portrait while we're there so we can make a book for Quinn of all the people who love her far away. So, be ready to get an up-close photo taken when we visit!

12 weeks old!

I know we could be anywhere, but this is part of the Flagstaff trip. Quinn was just having so much fun here, we couldn't resist!

We were a little damp and chilly - first time for Quinn in a sweater :)

All bundled up before it rained on our picnic

Quinn and Mama in the woods

Look at me, I'm facing out!

Sofia sent Quinn this adorable dress, and she couldn't be cuter in it

Pouting for the camera

And this outfit is from Gretchen - it's so cute, and the hat is perfect for the Arizona sun

Quinn was chatting with Daddy in this photo

And here's the official three month photo taken 8/29/08

Ok, so Quinn is 12 weeks old now (three months!) - well she's actually almost 13 weeks (on Friday). I was doing the math and I figured out that if we continued to count by weeks, she would be 12 months by April... that doesn't make sense, she was born in June. So, I asked the Doc, and she said that weeks is obviously more accurate, but at about six months we can just start counting the months from the date. So, this past Friday, Quinn made the big 12 week milestone! And I took the silly picture in that silly outfit on that rocking chair. I don't know if it's the outfit or what, but Quinn wasn't having it that morning, so this was the best photo I got of her for the month to month comparison photo. Maybe she'll smile for the four month photo!

We took a little trip to Flagstaff for Labor Day weekend - it was nice and chilly but it rained a little while we were there. It was nice to be out of the heat for a bit, but we had to end our picnic early because of the rain. So it was back to the heat for us. It should start to get a little cooler here pretty soon, so we'll be able to take walks finally, but of course I'll be back at work, so...

Well, we have been having a great time with Quinn still, and it just gets better every day. She coos and "talks" to us all the time. When she gets excited, she wiggles around a lot and breaths really fast. It's pretty darn cute. She has always held her head up pretty well, but now she is pretty much on her own, so we decided it was time to put her in the baby bjorn facing out - and she loves it (as you can see from the photo)!

Our own photo shoot

Happy to be holding up her little head

Lounging

There's the money shot!

Getting sleepy...

Really sleepy...

ahh... asleep

Quinn and I had our own photo shoot today - well we do it a lot, but we had a backdrop today! I know, fancy ;) We're giving Loralei a run for her money. The reason I did this was because Quinn will be 12 weeks old on Friday - we can't really get Loralei back here (which would be ideal), and I can't stand the thought of going to one of those portrait studios after those awesome in home photos. Well, I took some notes... and I did a little experimenting.. and walla! It looks like I might be on to something here. I think all of Quinn's official photos will be done at home, or outside when the weather gets nicer - I don't think we'll have to ever go into one of those portrait studios. Quinn was having an alright time, but then decided she was sleepy and fell asleep right on our "set." She's been taking a long nap now - oh the life of a model!

Growing so fast!

As you can clearly see from these two pictures,
Quinn is quite literally busting out of her clothes!

And she thinks it's funny!

Quinn is quite literally busting out of her clothes! She doesn't fit in her three month clothes anymore, and this is all within a couple of weeks. It makes me a little sad to put all of those tiny clothes away, but happy at the same time, because she is just getting so fat and cute. She is getting more and more fun every day. She is noticing stuff that she didn't before. Like today, she actually looked at Meow Meow Kitty. She's grabbing onto her toys and looking at them in a different way - it's so fun to see what she will do next that's different. When we went to her two month doctor's appointment, she measured in the ninetieth percentile for height and weight and the Dr. said she had a great head shape. Her head measured in the fiftieth percentile. That was all great news, but then came the shots. That was the wost thing that I ever had to do. I have never seen Quinn so upset in my life. I am really dreading the next visit. She was pretty upset, but then she fell asleep on the way home and slept for a long time that afternoon. When she woke up, she was in much better spirits, thankfully. She seemed like she didn't even remember the visit to the doctor's office at all.
That same day, Grandma Susie came for a visit and spent a long weekend in her new condo and visiting with her granddaughter. Grandma Susie was so nice and got a room at the Phoenician for us on Saturday night. She spent the afternoon with Quinn while Tony and I got to hang out by the pool. Then we got ready for dinner and put Quinn to bed, and Grandma babysat in the hotel while we went to a really fancy dinner at the Window's on the Green. It was such a perfect first date as parents! We were so close to Quinn at all times, but it felt as if we were really on a date far away, but I wasn't nervous. Then we even got to spend the night there with Quinn and order room service the next morning for breakfast. And Quinn was such a good baby the whole time!
We're having so much fun with Quinn everyday - she's not a newborn anymore, but she sure is getting to be fun to play with!

Two Months!

Smiling

Checking out her little bird friends

Official Two Month Photo 8/1/08

Wow - another month has flown by! I really should have posted this last Friday, that would be the official two month marker, but you know how things are with a brand new baby. It's been hard to keep up, to say the least. I know I keep saying this, but every day Quinn is more alert and aware. It's really crazy how much she grows every day! It's been so much fun, and it's getting even better every day with all of the things she is learning. A little over a week ago she finally noticed her mobile in her swing. Now she just loves looking at it and following it around and around. I wonder if it makes her a little dizzy swinging back and forth and following that thing around? Is that sort of like patting your head and rubbing your tummy at the same time?

I took the official two month old photo on the same chair as the one month old photo in the same outfit. I wish I would have chosen a different outfit, because it's a little baggy on her, but you can still see how much she has grown by looking at her long legs in this new one.

The password is in!

We are finally able to check out the photos of Quinn on the photographer's website! There are so many cute ones of Quinn - we just love them all and we wish we could order all of them! Anyway, this is what you do: go to the website - loraleiphotography.com - click on "enter website," click on "clients," then enter the password "quinn" in the space provided. You will now be able to see all of the pictures she posted as a slide show.

Having a blast in the activity gym!

Playing dress-up again, with hats this time. Not sure how much Quinn loves the bonnet...

Looks like this ensemble is a winner!

We haven't gotten the password to the professional photos yet - but as soon as we do, I will be sure to post it so everyone can take a peak at all of them. Loralei, the photographer, is coming over tonight to show us the photos and help us pick out the ones we want. She is also designing the announcements - so that's why it is taking us so long to get those out.

Well, Tony had to go back to work starting last week. This is his official first week back with students, so he came home very tired yesterday. Quinn and I have been hanging out at home having a blast, but we sure do miss dad. We went to the grocery store all by ourselves today - what an adventure! Well, it wasn't that big of an adventure, but it was a big deal for us. We have been so spoiled to have Tony around this whole time, so everything was a family outing. It made me feel a bit silly that I thought it was such a big deal because just as Quinn and I were walking into the store, we saw a mom with three little toddlers and a newborn! Wow - I can't even imagine. I couldn't hold myself back, I told her how impressed I was with her and that I thought that what I was doing was a big deal! She acted like it was no big deal, that was just what they did. Wow!

So, Quinn has been flashing us some smiles for quite a while, but this week, she has really been smiling a lot, and we think pretty deliberately too. It is so fun to see her more alert and aware every day!

Quinn had a really busy day! After a few minutes in hair and make-up (hehe), she rocked her first professional photo shoot. Here's a sneak peak of her day in front of the camera! The official link to her portfolio will be posted shortly.

Arms Up!

The official one month old picture taken 7/4/08

Wow - time sure does fly! Quinn is a month old already. She was actually four weeks old on Friday, the fourth of July. We had a pretty mellow fourth this year - a little too early (and hot) for fireworks. Next year we will hopefully be in the North Woods for the fourth of July. That will be fun when Quinn is one! Let's not jump a head too quickly though :)

We are still doing great, Quinn is growing fast and is getting more and more engaging. She looks at us all the time and follows our gazes as well as the fun rattles and gizmos we put in front of her face - back and forth - it's a really fun game!

Here are a few more pictures from the past few days. We just think she is so cute when she sleeps - so we keep taking her picture. There is one picture of her that we think looks just like her mom... can you pick it out? Other times we think she looks exactly like Tony. But we have decided that she has my hands and Tony's feet!
